This elegant black lager is a nod to traditional German brewers of old. We started with a malt bill of Pilsner, Munich, Munich II,, and Carafa Special III, then added Hallertau Mittlefruh hops to the boil before weeks of spunding (a natural carbonation technique & all-around fun word). What we ended up with pours a dark black and sports beautiful notes of biscuit, hazelnut, and toffee, complemented by a soft noble backbone and wrapped in a crisp, full-bodied package that delights both the eyes and the palate.
