The pre-barrel-aged Ethiopia Kochere is an incredible coffee all by itself. It’s intensely fruity, with a really great floral aroma and finish. To be completely honest, we sort of threw it into a Tennessee Whiskey barrel on a lark with the idea to pulling it out before the barrel character took hold, and that’s exactly what we did. The delicate floral quality of the coffee manages to stay intact, while the rye character hovers in the background. Meanwhile, the powerful fruity notes create this sort of berry-infused rye quality that is absolutely magical. I’m talking unicorn-drizzled, berry-dripping booze syrup. It’s great. Maybe the most magical cup of coffee money can buy.
